Right around now, something starts to shift. First exams land. First projects come due. And somewhere in a phone call or a text, you hear it: "I'm fine."

Maybe it is fine. Maybe it isn't. From three words on a screen, you honestly can't tell.

This is the moment a lot of parents quietly start asking a question they don't say out loud: My kid is smart. Why can't they figure this out?

Being smart isn't the whole equation. College asks students to manage work, deadlines, and academic pressure differently than high school did. But understanding that only gets you so far. The harder question for a parent is what to do when something starts to look off.

How do you know whether it's normal adjustment or something that needs attention? What should you ask? And when should you step in without taking over?

That's what this session is for.

The goal isn't to catch every problem before it happens. It's to recognize the difference between one rough week and a pattern early enough that the conversation is still easy to have.

What We'll Cover

  • What's happening. Why the first real academic pressure point catches so many capable students off guard, and what "I'm fine" can and can't tell you.
  • What it means. How to tell the difference between normal adjustment and something worth paying closer attention to.
  • What to say and when to step in. How to open the conversation without taking over, and what your student still needs to own.

A Note on Format

This session is live only. There won't be a replay, so if you register, plan to be there Saturday.

Who This Is For

This session is for parents of college students who want to know what to watch for as the first real academic pressure of the semester arrives, whether you've already seen a rough grade, noticed a change in communication, or everything still seems completely fine.

Your Host

I've spent more than 20 years in college classrooms watching capable students hit this exact point in the semester, and seeing what happens next when they adjust early versus when the problem goes unnoticed.
