For parents of college students
A clearer way to understand what your college student is navigating and your role in it.
Cue a sigh of relief.
Your Student Is in College. Your Role Has Changed Too.
The College Parent Support System gives you practical playbooks for the academic, communication, and transition issues college students actually face — grounded in The Professor's Perspective: what these situations look like from the college side, and what parents may not be able to see from home.
When something comes up, you can see what may be happening beneath the surface, understand the patterns I see in the classroom, and decide how you want to respond.
Each playbook includes context, conversation language, and a clear action framework you can adapt to your student and your relationship.
New memberships open at $370/year or $37/month.

Why This Exists
Your student calls with a problem.
You're deciding, in real time, whether this is a moment to listen, ask questions, offer perspective, or step back.
That decision is rarely obvious from the parent side.
I've spent more than 20 years watching these situations from the college side — teaching at the community college, private college, and graduate levels. I've watched students navigate academic setbacks, communication breakdowns, motivation shifts, difficult semesters, and the transition into greater independence.
I've also experienced college from the parent side with my own children.
That combination changed the way I understood the questions parents are actually trying to answer.
- When should I ask more questions?
- When does a low grade matter?
- When does my student need support, and when do they need room?
- How do I say what I mean without turning the conversation into a lecture?
- What looks concerning from home but fairly normal from the classroom?
These are judgment calls.
The College Parent Support System gives you more context for making them.
The Moments This Was Built For
Your student's communication suddenly changes.
You know something is off, but you don't know how significant it is yet.
You usually don't have the full picture. You hear what happened after your student has already experienced and interpreted it. You may not know what happened in class, what the professor communicated, what resources are available, or what your student has already tried.
You want to stay connected while respecting the fact that college is also where they learn to make decisions, recover from mistakes, and take more ownership of their life.
These moments rarely come with much context.
You don't have to work through the library to find it. You reach for the one playbook that matches what's happening right now.
How the System Works
Start with the situation in front of you.
1. Choose the playbook that matches what you're navigating.
If something specific is happening with your student, begin there. If you want a broader foundation first, use the Start Here path.
2. Understand what's happening.
Each playbook explains the situation, the patterns behind it, and what I regularly see from the college side.
3. Decide how you want to respond.
Use the framework, suggested questions, scripts, and action steps to determine what fits your student and your relationship.
4. Return when the situation changes.
The library grows as new playbooks are added, and the monthly Q&A private podcast addresses questions parents are navigating in real time.

About the Professor Behind the System
I've spent more than 20 years on the college side of the conversation.
I've taught at the community college level, at private colleges, and at the graduate level.
Over those years, I've watched students move through the same kinds of moments parents often encounter from home: the first disappointing grade, the semester that starts getting away from them, the communication shutdown, the missed deadlines, the confidence dip, the recovery.
Then my own children went to college.
I began seeing the same moments from a completely different seat.
Parents often have limited information while being asked to make very nuanced decisions about how involved to be.
That's the gap this system is designed to fill.
I bring you the perspective I have from more than two decades in higher education and organize it into something you can actually use in your own family.
Who This Is For
The College Parent Support System is for parents who want to stay meaningfully involved in their student's college experience while allowing that student to continue developing independence.
- You may be sending your first child to college.
- You may be a first-generation college parent learning an unfamiliar system alongside your student.
- You may already have one or two college years behind you and have discovered that each stage brings a different set of decisions.
- You may have a student doing well and want a better framework before a difficult semester arrives.
- You may be in the middle of an academic or communication issue right now.
The common thread is simple: you care about how you show up in these moments, and you want your decisions informed by more than the small piece of the situation you can see from home.
Good questions.
Honest answers.
Q: What if my student is doing well right now?
Q: Is this only for parents of first-year students?
Q: Will the playbooks tell me exactly what to say?
Q: What if my student's situation is unusual?
Q: Does my student need to use the system?
Q: What if my student isn’t very motivated right now?
Q: Is this counseling or academic advising?
Q: Can I cancel?
College will keep giving your student new situations to navigate.
Your role will keep evolving alongside them.
The College Parent Support System gives you a place to understand what you're seeing, hear the perspective of someone who has spent decades working with college students, and approach the next conversation with more context.
